The Secret Lives of Friars
So have you every wondered what Friars do on Vacation? A good Friend of mine is a CFR in New York. He is visiting "home" for a Youth 2000 Retreat. He is also the Godfather to middle kid, aged 6. We do very normal things with him when he visits, like treat him to his annual Starbucks drink. This year we went for a hike, to enjoy the beautiful day. Well, this is the Dear Brother showing the kids his very best Gandalf (he was yelling "you shall not pass" as well.)
Every year he shows a new trick to the kids, involving his habit, this year it was role playing, Gandalf, last year it was Obi Won. Any guesses for next year?
So THIS is what Friars do on vacation, they make kids laugh and mothers roll their eyes, but, everyone enjoys the Simple Joy of time spent together.

Welcome to Simple Joys
I've been debating this blog for about a year now. It started with the first day of spring last year, here in Chicago it was 36 out, yet the chorus frogs were singing. It made the cold chill melt away as my children and I hiked to the nearest pond at our favorite hiking spot to see the frogs. It was a simple joy.
That is what I hope to share, a bit of the goodness of life from my neck of the woods, or 'burbs, as it is in reality. Modern life is filled with chaos, we have almost forgotten to look up at the stars at night in awe and wonder of the Good who made us. Sure, it takes effort sometimes and time, but the fruits are great, especially for our children.
Who am I? Just another suburban stay-at-home mom. I home school my three kids, I help moms nurse their babies, I teach couples wanting to naturally space babies. But other than that, I'm a typical gen-xer who married her best friend from High School young, and never looked back.
What will you find here? Hopefully things that make you smile! I like books, music, art, and Love my faith. All of that will be what this is, with a bit of current events mixed in to boot.
I hope you like it!
